Beach Buggy FAQ
1. How do I register the vehicle? All paperwork, engineering certifications etc relevant to the registration process is provided with your kit purchase. Generally this is presented at registration. It may be necessary to contact an engineering signatory in your area who will advise you on the process relevant to your state and your personal chosen specifications. Generally, your vehicle will fall under the ICV banner and will be built and complied within that regulatory framework.

2. Will ProRace help with the registration process?
Yes. Once you have found the engineer you wish to use we are willing to liaise with them on your behalf. The final process will however ultimately be in your hands.

3. What factors will influence whether my state will register the car?
Federally the cars comply and registration in all states will be possible however aspects of the regulations do change state by state. The final specification you choose I.e engine type and size, ride heights, wheel/tyre selection etc will also impact.
4. Where do I find the parts to assemble a finished car?
With the kit you will be provided with a comprehensive listing of all major components required to assemble the vehicle. This will include such things as steering parts, suspension parts, brake parts, and many other items. All of the required items are available new or used and are not difficult to obtain. If you wanted to, it should be possible to build a vehicle using all brand-new components.

5. How much will this car cost me complete?
That is an incredibly open-ended question. If you choose a wild specification, top end fit-and-finish and pay a professional to do the entire job for you, it will be a substantial amount of money. If you do everything yourself, give yourself plenty of time and source everything second-hand or on the aftermarket, relatively little money.

6. Is there a roof provided?
No. However that is something we will look into as time progresses.

7. Can I purchase a full turnkey car?
Our focus is on getting the SWB chassis body kits in production, working with kit builders and state engineers prior to full turnkey builds. So the answer is yes but please contact us to discuss.

8. Can I have an electric car?
Yes, you can build an electric car in much the same way as a petrol car, it's up to you and your engineer. We will have an electric prototype running in due time.

9. Can I visit the factory?
Yes by appointment. Please contact us.

10. Can I purchase the parts and components needed for the build directly from you?
Yes, as kits enter production we will maintain a bigger and bigger inventory.

11. What engine/gearbox combination can I use?
The car is designed for a VW or Subaru gearbox to be fitted. This does not mean a different gearbox (like a Porsche) can not be used but it will require more custom work. Mounts for the gearbox will be available separately. As for engines we expect the VW and Subaru flat four to be the the common choice, but really anything is possible.

12. Can I have my fiberglass body in different gel coat colours?
No. We produce the bodies in white or grey gel coats only for reasons relating to quality. Normal automotive (or marine) paints can then be used to achieve the finish and colours you require. This process results in a higher quality finished product than gel coat.
